Heavy Civil Project Superintendents have the overall responsibility for the successful completion of turn-key heavy/civil projects on time and within budget. Directly supervise and coordinate activities of onsite daily operations. Oversee the production and performance of multiple crews and supervisors as they operate one or several types of equipment. Team member will have 5+ years’ experience as a civil construction superintendent.

- Maintain a project schedule
- Monitor the quality of subcontracted work
- Order materials/schedule delivery as needed
- Collect delivery tickets and ensure accuracy of materials received
- Endure that the site inspector has copies of required delivery tickets
- Turn in coded delivery tickets to the project manager on a weekly basis
- Maintain the highest ethical standards at all times
- Lead the safety effort by recognizing and correcting hazards as soon as they are present. Be the #1 safety advocate for your crew
- Plan and coordinate Daily Hazard Briefings to ensure crew understands the work plan and the associated hazards of the day
- Report incidents immediately to the risk management team in accordance with incident reporting procedures established by the Company
- Train and develop new team members in construction methods, operation of equipment, safety procedures and/or Company policies
- Enter daily project data including but not limited to accurate labor, equipment, and quantity reporting
- Review and approve project data entered by other crews working onsite for accuracy
- Read specifications, such as blueprints, to determine construction requirements or to plan procedures
- Inspect work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety or to ensure that specifications are met
- Work to eliminate unnecessary trips and labor costs on weather days
- Communicate with engineers or owners to resolve issues
- Coordinate with local authorities on work and inspections
- Ensure our projects maintain a professional appearance
- Coordinate work activities with other construction project activities
- Coordinate weekly look ahead and resources with Management Team
- Assign work to team members based on material or worker requirements of specific jobs
- Estimate material or worker requirements to complete jobs
- Coordinate material and supplies orders with Project Manager
- Suggest or initiate personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, hires or discipline
- Operate equipment as needed
- Willingness to work hours as required
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred
- Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with jobsite supervisors and fellow team members
- Must have strong coordination, time management, active listening, communication, critical thinking, and reasoning skills
- Experienced in erosion control installation, maintenance, and documentation
- Experienced in water, sewer and storm drain installation
- Must be able to effectively use all required PPE and lift up to fifty pounds. Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position. Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools. Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with clean MVR for at least 3 years
Education/Training/Certification:
- OSHA 30
- Trenching and Excavation Competent Person
- First Aid/CPR
- Level II Erosion Control Certification
